The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, which we now know by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her for her place in the "child prodigy" category. But for a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended family, these qualities were natural. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin in Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was the mother of her. She was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and owned shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons' first FitzSimons child. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen excelled at sports and was a lover of rough play. Her talent for performing was a perfect complement to her interest in athletics. Her winning of almost all Feis Awards for her home country's drama and theatre performances proved this. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14 as she pursued her dreams of operatic as well as classical theatre and singing.
